Hoffman has second thoughts over Penguin role
November 9th 2008 23:44
According to WENN, Philip Seymour Hoffman has apparently had second thoughts regarding his upcoming role in the new Batman film, insisting that he is not the best actor for the part.
Hoffman is tipped to be the favourite to play the Penguin in the third installment of the new Batman franchise, but has yet to be officially signed to the project.
Originally stating that he was enthusiastic to take on this role, Hoffman now insists he would prefer to see another actor play the part originally donned by Danny De Vito.
He has stated, "To be quite honest, I don't know whether I would be a good Penguin. I think I'm more interested in seeing someone else do it."
In my opinion, myself and I'm sure millions of other people would like to see this great actor who has brought to life such varied roles in Capote, Boogie Nights and Before The Devil Knows You're Dead to be the new actor to step into the shoes of this bad guy. If De Vito, an actor nowhere as nearly prolific or accomplished as Hoffman could do such a great job, I'd love to see what Hoffman could bring to the table.
My only thoughts on this is perhaps Hoffman is feeling insecure about being involved in the franchise of what has become the most succesful film ever (The Dark Night).
I for one hope he goes through with the role. Thoughts anyone?
