JACKASS 3D (includes trailer)

Surprisingly, I didn't think twice about being at the advanced screening for the most gloriously low brow event of the year. Having had little exposure to Jackass in the past I embraced it with open arms. I suspect that my complicity in sitting back and cracking up with the rest of the packed audience was possibly inspired by the unfortunate experience of seeing SAW 3D the day before, but even so, there's something positive to be said for a film that just wants everyone to have a good time – even if it is at the potential expense of the people on screen and the number of possible spinal and brain injuries that could occur in practise. Jackass 3D is indeed a most depraved time, but God almighty it made me laugh – hard!
Fellow Orble blogger Mountain Fog decided to educate me in the ways of dangerously foolish shenanigans, as a result I left the theatre enlightened in the ways of base humour and also achieved an intense, zen like form of perverse, laughter therapy, as my brain posted an 'out to lunch' sign inside my head. Jackass 3D is now the third film instalment based on the popular TV series, which aims to amuse with idiots doing dumb stuff, kicking in the skull of good taste and general decency in the process.
Despite never having had an interest in Jackass, this film succeeds where many like it flop. Jackass is gallery of confident stupidity. It comes out guns blazing with one cringe inducing crude skit after the next. It takes no prisoners and it certainly doesn't care about finding a middle ground in the name of widening it's audience, filled with more puking, volcanic defecating and blows to the crotch than one should be able to reasonably stand, Jackass somehow gets away with all of this, one might describe the content as all killer and no filler, but some of the skits and gags do become repetitious at a certain point.
Jackass kicks off with an amusing introduction from two old friends I havn't seen in some time - Beavis and Butthead, in a most enjoyable prologue, they guide us through the benefits of 3D technology, whilst simultaneously poking fun at it. I initially put their inclusion down to the big colourful MTV logo in the begining, but in hindsight Jackass 3D has the exact same audience as Beavis and Butthead's, so it seems most fitting.
Jackass 3D packs it's low blow laughter right from the rainbow themed credit sequence. The use of slow motion gags are a common fallback through out the film, but the opening credit scene has some great ones to roll out on us, long before they begin to get stale. Ten minutes in we are witness to moronic lunacy at it's very best. No foolish intention to create some sort of story has been attempted, this is simply a big puffed up 90 minute special.
Some of the highlights include pulling sometimes innocent and sometimes very taboo pranks on public spectators, being abused by various animals that seem to be able to take care of themselves, fat men being glued together, more slow motion gags which surprisingly have the best use of the 3D visuals I've seen so far (yes, I'm embarrased to admit it but I actually did think something was flying at me for a split second) and then we have the time tested hilarity of lads turning themselves into human projectiles, sling shotting them selves in all manners and form, and astonishingly not breaking their necks (their actually is evidence of broken bones that are thrown iin for good measure).
I wouldn't recommend this for children, it's high ranking stupidity at it's most extreme and saying some of these stunts are dangerous is an understatement. This is one to see with your drunk buddies or in a packed theatre, it helps to know that you arn't the only one that finds such stupidity this funny. The gut busters are constant in quality (quality being a loose term) and the way it's filmed does contribute a perversely added charm, but Jackass also indulges in some of the most disgusting and depraved acts committed to any film and it helps if you arn't eating at the time.
Definitely funny, prepare to be disgusted though. Having said that there's plenty of stuff that is sure to leave you with a rush of laughter and a smile on your face the next day. I can't remember the last time I laughed this hard, I actually became concerned about choking on my popcorn, which I nearly did at one point. Jackass 3D is terribly low brow stuff, but definitely worth checking out, probably not by yourself, but definitely with some friends who will also appreciate it.
JACKASS 3D is out in Australian cinemas this coming thurday.

This is really funny stuff, and the productions values, execution and 3D is surprsingly impressive. I can't believe I'm saying this, but, I recommend it quite alot.

Film & TV on DVD
I liked jackass for a couple of episodes but then it just got to repetitive. Have no desire to see this, but then it wasn't aimed at me.
